- An overview
We collect data on behalf of our clients, for them to use to improve the services and experiences they offer their customers. This data is collected in accordance with the Market Research Society’s code of conduct and fair data policy (more information in section 8 below).
We have software that is compliant with regulations on data security and all of the data we collect is analysed collectively, unless otherwise specified.
We always try to be clear about why we are collecting data and in most instances the data will be used to profile or segment an audience and/or to track data year-on-year.
- The information you give
All of our surveys are hosted on, and data is collected securely using Snap Surveys which is compliant with ISO 27001. ISO 27001 assists organisations in the development of an information security management system that is integrated, comprehensive and incorporates globally-recognised best practices. By using this software we are ensuring the highest level of data security for all of our clients and research participants.
All of your ratings and views are securely stored and will be treated as anonymous unless otherwise specified. Zing insights will analyse the responses you provide which may include segmentation and profiling of groups within the survey samples. Your data will not be attributed to you or analysed on a single case level unless this is clearly specified. On the rare occasion that we may want to look at data on a case by case level, we will be transparent about this when collecting this data.
- Information sharing
We will not rent or sell your personal data to any third parties outside of Zing Insights and its agreed business partners without your consent.
- Storing your information
All of the data we collect will be stored and processed in the United Kingdom, unless otherwise advised. In some instances it may be required that we transfer information that we collect about you, including personal information, to partners, or to other third parties across borders. If this is the case, it will be transferred solely for the purposes outlined above.
We will store this personal information for as long as is deemed necessary for the purpose of the research project up to a maximum of 3 years.
In the event of a data breach or compromise, the appropriate steps will be taken to comply with GDPR laws and the relevant data controllers and authorities will be informed. Zing Insights will take all reasonable steps to investigate the breach and where appropriate, notify those individuals whose information may have been compromised within 7 days of us becoming aware of the breach.
- Your data rights
As a participant in a Zing Insights research project you may be asked if you would like to participate in future research on the same subject, or any subject.
By opting in to this, you will be added to a panel of respondents who have also agreed to future research. This will mean you may from time to time receive communication from Zing Insights, or our client who you completed the original research for, asking you to take part in further research. You will have the opportunity to opt out of future research at any point in this process. In the majority of cases you will be reimbursed for your time.
If you would like to be removed from the Zing Insights research panel at any time please email email@example.com and this will be arranged.
Our general storage terms apply also to our panel, with data being held for no more than 3 years from the time of the most recent “opt in”.
- Competitions and Other Promotions (“Promotions”)
At Zing Insights we may occasionally conduct promotions. If you choose to enter, we may ask you for your personal data such as your name, email address, postal address and/or telephone number for the purpose of conducting these promotions. Competition rules are explained here: www.zinginsights.com/prizedraw.
- Other data we may collect automatically

FAIR DATA COMPANIES AGREE TO TEN PRINCIPLES
1) We will ensure that all personal data is collected with customers’ consent.

3) We will make sure customers have access to the personal data we hold on them and how we use it.
4) We will protect personal data and keep it secure and confidential.
5) We will ensure staff understand that personal data is just that – personal – and ensure that it is treated with respect.
6) We will ensure that the vulnerable and under-age are properly protected by the processes we use for data collection.
7) We will manage our data supply chain to the same ethical standards we expect from other suppliers.
8) We will ensure that ethical best practice in personal data is integral to our procurement process.
9) We will ensure that all staff who have access to personal data are properly trained in its use.
10) We will not use personal data if there is uncertainty as to whether the Fair Data Principles have been applied.
Members and Company Partners are regulated under the MRS Code of Conduct. This Code covers the collection and use of personal data and emphasises the need to protect all participants from harm – particularly the young and vulnerable. The ten core principles of Fair Data work in tandem with the MRS Code of Conduct.
